Sander Owen, Drummer

Sander Owen is a Norwegian drummer, singer-songwriter, and producer.

Bio

He started playing the drums at age five, and had over twenty students of all ages at fourteen. He was getting regular paying gigs at fifteen, and started producing music for movies and television (Norsk Film, Gyldendal, TV Norge, Floyd Food, and R¿de Kors) at seventeen. At eighteen he played with Marie Bergman, and at nineteen he started a successful rehearsal studio business. He also graduated with top grades in music at that time, studying under Audun Kleive.

Fluid in virtually all genres, Sander has done hundreds of shows, and played on dozens of recordings both in Europe and the US.

During his years in Los Angeles, he took some good advice from Kenny Aronoff (drummer, John Fogerty, Elton John), and went on to work with Matt Malley (bassist, Counting Crows), Ric Fierabracci (bassist, Tom Jones, Chick Corea), Michael Gabbay (MTV songwriter), The Gravity Guild (grunge/metal band in Hollywood), and many others. He also played and recorded at venues such as Whisky a Go-Go, Musician's Institute, The Baked Potato, Dragonfly in Hollywood, SAE, and more.

In 2010 he completed the material for a full-length solo album, which Matt Malley (bassist, Counting Crows) agreed to produce. Sander was unable to get a record deal. Tired of an industry that had long been on the brink of bankruptcy, he decided to stop pursuing a professional career in music.

He still makes music on the side.
